$15 Million Palm Springs Golf Club to Feature "Fairway Living"
from Palm Springs Life, August 1958

One of the largest and most intriguing in Desert history -- the $15,000,000 Palm Springs Golf Club has swung into the first phase of its 3-year building program under the guidance of B. Zuckerman. Zuckerman is a noted Chicago residential and commercial developer and one of the Westview Development Corporation, developers of the project golf club.

Construction was begun on the 6,652 golf course, designed by Lawrence Huges, in early July and completion is expected by fall. The dominant theme of the entire project is to be 'fairway living,' and a glance a tthe artist's rendering (see below) shows that the majority of the home sites will be comfortably perched on the edge of the fairways.

Further intriguing aspects of the club's design embrace the Garden Cottage area, combined Hotel and Clubhouse facilities, and a Shopping area in all, a virtually independent community. The Garden Cottage area -- to include 300 cottages design by C.W. Doty -- will operate on a quasi-cooperative basis, with the occupants owning theirs homes and property while being afforded myriad conveniences ranging from mutual swimming pool and thiis court areas to a variety of maintenance and repair services under the management of the Westview Corporation.

Owners of the homesites, cottages, or lots in the new development will automatically become members of the club, proprietary ownership being a requisite to membership.

The entire project, stretching one mile from the east city limits on the northside of Highway 111, will require three years to complete. Exclusive sales agent for the club properties is Golf Club Sales Company, headed by realtor George Gannon and Westview Corporation executive vice- Frank Bogert. Westview president, Morton Zuckerman, emphatically states that the club is not a promotional venture, declaring: "Our golf course is now under construction and our model cottages will be started immediately after the plans come off the drawing board."
